In a community as international as Iskandar Puteri, where children at Marlborough College or Raffles American often speak English as a first language, the First Language strand is a natural route. But confidence in speech is not the same as marks on a reading and writing paper. Our team of experienced English teachers takes an Iskandar Puteri student from fluent to precise: reading unseen texts closely enough to explain a writer's craft, and writing to a set brief with control. Lessons are one-to-one and online, so in a zone where EduCity and the residential estates lie far apart, the hour goes to analysis and composition, not to the Coastal Highway.
What we cover
First Language English for Iskandar Puteri students centres on two things: reading for effect and writing with purpose. We teach a student to unpick how word choice, imagery and structure create meaning, and to write about those effects with tight evidence instead of retelling the passage.
Directed writing is practised as a discipline, reading a source, then recasting it for a different reader and form while holding a consistent voice. Composition covers descriptive and narrative pieces, from a strong opening to a resolved ending.
Lessons are online, one-to-one and timetabled around school. The first step is a paid one-hour trial.
Lessons without leaving Iskandar Puteri
Nobody in Iskandar Puteri needs to travel for this. Lessons run on a shared screen, timetabled around the school day, with the same experienced teacher each time. For local schools and travel, see our Iskandar Puteri page, the Johor Bahru district or the Johor page.
Inside a lesson
The routine is simple: one teacher, one student, one hour, timetabled around school. Lessons are from RM70/hr, with the exact figure agreed before booking, and the first step is a one-hour paid trial.
