Timur Laut is the north-eastern district of Penang island and the busiest corner of the state, taking in the heritage capital George Town, the seafront condominiums of Tanjung Tokong, the university quarter at Gelugor and the hill-foot neighbourhoods of Air Itam. It is a dense, cosmopolitan area where Peranakan, Chinese, Malay and Indian households live alongside expatriate and academic families drawn to Universiti Sains Malaysia. Pupils here range from national and Chinese-medium schools to established international campuses, and IGCSE English is a common thread across all of them, whether taken to strengthen a first language or to open an international route.
Studying IGCSE English across Timur Laut (North East)
Across Timur Laut the schooling picture is unusually broad. George Town keeps a proud line of historic mission schools, among them St. Xavier's Institution and Convent Light Street, while the north coast holds international campuses such as Uplands School (The International School of Penang), St. Christopher's International Primary School and, in neighbouring Tanjung Bungah, Dalat International School.
Around Gelugor the schools near Universiti Sains Malaysia have a strongly academic character, and Air Itam families often choose national or Chinese-medium schooling. Because these settings follow different boards and strands, IGCSE English needs across the district run from First Language through English as a Second Language to Literature in English.
Lessons are online, one-to-one and timetabled around school. The first step is a paid one-hour trial.

How online lessons reach the whole district
Our online 1-to-1 lessons reach a pupil anywhere in the district, from a shophouse flat in the heritage core to a tower at Straits Quay or a house near Minden, with no drive past Komtar. Our teachers cover all three strands, First Language English, English as a Second Language and Literature in English, for every major board, including Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and OxfordAQA, across Year 9 to Year 11. Lessons are from RM70/hr and begin with a one-hour paid trial with the teacher who would continue, so a family can judge the teaching first.
