Batu is the northern district of Kuala Lumpur that runs up along Jalan Ipoh, from the redeveloping former railway town of Sentul out towards Jinjang and the city's northern fringe. Sentul is its centrepiece, a workshop district reborn around the greenery of Sentul Park and the theatres of KLPac. But the wider Batu area keeps the mixed, working-and-middle-class character that has always defined this stretch.
Tamil, Malay and Chinese families live side by side here, and the LRT and KTM lines tie the district firmly back to the centre. It is one of the most genuinely diverse parts of the whole city.
Studying IGCSE English across Batu
Schooling in Batu leans towards national and national-type schools, with several private schools dotted through the Sentul and Jalan Ipoh area. IGCSE English here is often a deliberate choice by families who want their children on an international qualification, and its candidates come from a blend of private schools and homeschooling households.
Because the district mixes so many home languages, a good number of students are strengthening written English rather than starting from an English-speaking home. Our team of experienced English teachers meets students wherever they are, building comprehension, summary and essay technique to the level and board each one is working towards.
Your child needs no travel. The teacher joins from a screen, and the trial is one paid hour.

How online lessons reach the whole district
Redevelopment has left parts of Batu tangled with construction detours, and the Jalan Ipoh corridor is rarely clear, so an online one-to-one lesson is the practical answer. A student anywhere in the district, from a Sentul East condominium to an older terrace off Jalan Ipoh, keeps the same experienced teacher week to week without setting foot in traffic.
We teach First Language English, English as a Second Language and Literature in English, on the Cambridge, Edexcel and OxfordAQA specifications, from the Year 9 foundation to the Year 11 papers. Lessons are from RM70/hr, and the first is a paid one-hour session.
