First Language English suits the confident Ipoh reader, the kind of student who already enjoys books and now needs technique to match it, whether at Fairview, Tenby or coming through homeschooling in Old Town. The course asks for more than clear expression: it wants a student to read a passage for its craft and to write with deliberate control.
Our team of experienced English teachers treats reading and writing as skills to be taught explicitly, not talents to be hoped for. We show an Ipoh student how a writer engineers an effect, then how to plan and shape their own descriptive, narrative and directed pieces so they read as choices rather than accidents.
What we cover
Our First Language English lessons move between three fronts. In reading, an Ipoh student learns to analyse a writer's language and structure, why this verb, this image, this order of sentences, and to explain the effect in precise terms rather than vague praise. In directed writing, we practise turning source material into a new text with its own audience, purpose and register, keeping accuracy while changing voice.
In composition, we develop descriptive and narrative pieces, working on strong openings, paragraph control and endings that resolve. Our team of experienced English teachers marks analysis and writing side by side in each lesson, so reading well and writing well grow together, and points every task at your board's own syllabus.
Your child needs no travel. The teacher joins from a screen, and the trial is one paid hour.
Lessons without leaving Ipoh
Ipoh is in Kinta, Perak. A student's exact address makes no difference online, with the same experienced teacher and the same one-to-one hour. For local schools and travel, see our Ipoh page, the Kinta district or the Perak page.
What happens in the hour
The routine is simple: one teacher, one student, one hour, timetabled around school. Lessons are from RM70/hr, with the exact figure agreed before booking, and the first step is a one-hour paid trial.
